Book Description
A brief introduction to scientific computing with GNU Octave. Designed as a textbook supplement for freshman and sophomore level linear algebra and calculus students.
This is a practical, stepbystep guide that will help you to quickly become a proficient Octave user. The book is packed with clear examples, screenshots, and code to carry out your data analysis without any problems. This book is intended for anyone interested in scientific computing and data analysis. The reader should have a good level of mathematics and a basic understanding of programming will be useful, although it is not a prerequisite
If you're terrible at math and even worse with programming like me, this book is a great way to learn MATLAB/Octave in spite of that. This really is a very basic introduction. The author holds your hand. It's pretty short, about 100 pages. However, that makes the book easy to carry just about anywhere. The exercise questions are relevant to the work in the chapters.
